After reading “The Truth About Leadership” by James Kouzes and Barry Posner, Jill Sammons was reminded of what she appreciates most about those who have led her to this point in her career, and how they have influenced her as a leader. Her favorite Truth is #10 – Leadership is an affair of the heart. For anyone who knows Jill, this won’t come as a surprise. This passage best summarizes her leadership style: “Loving leading means that you’re passionate about values and visions that make a difference, that you look forward every day to devoting your time to strengthening others and building teams, that you relish the chance to tackle a daunting challenge and search for new possibilities, and that you truly enjoy recognizing others for their contributions to the success of the enterprise.” Jill has been fortunate to practice putting others first throughout her entire career.
